MADICE · PLATFORM PRIVACY
Privacy across the MADICE universe.
This policy explains how MADICE handles information across its websites, account system, The Light of Humanity, and connected platform experiences.
1. Scope
This MADICE Platform Privacy Policy describes how MADICE Inc. ("MADICE," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects information when you use the MADICE website, MADICE account features, The Light of Humanity, and other MADICE platform services that link to this policy.
Some MADICE products have product-specific privacy policies. The StoneMatch iOS application is governed by the separate StoneMatch Privacy Policy. If a product-specific policy conflicts with this platform policy for that product, the product-specific policy controls.
2. Information you provide
Depending on the experience you use, you may provide:
- Account and identity information, such as your name, email address, account identifier, and sign-in information.
- Contact information and communications you send to MADICE.
- A star name, optional dedication or message, and related instructions submitted through The Light of Humanity.
- Purchase, transaction, and subscription status information associated with a payment.
- Information you choose to provide when requesting support, participating in a collaboration, or using another MADICE feature.
Please do not place sensitive personal information in a public star name or other content intended to be displayed publicly.
3. The Light of Humanity and permanent stars
When you create a light, MADICE may assign a permanent MADICE identifier and store the star name, optional message, visual attributes, creation time, payment confirmation, and technical records needed to preserve the light and its association.
A submitted star name is intended to appear in the shared MADICE starfield when a visitor selects that star. Other information, including an optional message, is not displayed publicly unless the experience clearly states otherwise or you separately authorize its publication.
Because The Light of Humanity is designed as a lasting record, removal requests may affect the identity or display of a light. We will evaluate verified privacy requests under applicable law while preserving payment, fraud-prevention, security, and legal records where required.
4. Information collected automatically
When you use MADICE services, we and our service providers may automatically process limited technical information, including IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, requested pages, timestamps, language, approximate region derived from IP address, diagnostic events, and security or fraud-prevention signals.
We may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies to maintain sign-in sessions, remember preferences, support security, and keep the service functioning. You can control certain browser storage through your browser settings, although disabling it may prevent some features from working.
5. Payments
Payments for The Light of Humanity and other web experiences may be processed by Stripe. Stripe receives the payment information required to complete the transaction. MADICE does not receive or store your full payment-card number or card security code.
We may receive a payment-session identifier, payment status, amount, currency, transaction time, limited billing information, and fraud-prevention results needed to confirm a purchase, create the requested experience, provide support, maintain accounting records, and prevent abuse. Stripe handles information under its own privacy policy.
When a page is marked as test mode, the payment is a test transaction and no real money is charged.
6. How we use information
MADICE uses information to:
- Provide, personalize, maintain, and connect MADICE products and experiences.
- Create and preserve permanent star records and their MADICE identifiers.
- Authenticate accounts and maintain user preferences and permissions.
- Process and confirm transactions and provide requested features.
- Respond to questions, support requests, and collaboration inquiries.
- Diagnose failures, improve reliability, protect security, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms.
- Comply with law, accounting obligations, and valid legal process.
MADICE does not sell personal information and does not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. How information is disclosed
We may disclose information to service providers that help us operate the platform, such as hosting, database, authentication, content-delivery, email, security, analytics limited to service operation, and payment providers. They may process information only for the services they provide to MADICE or as required by law.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or valid legal process; investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents; protect users, MADICE, or the public; enforce agreements; or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets subject to appropriate protections.
8. Connected and external services
MADICE experiences may link to KIRO STONE, Apple, Stripe, or other third-party services. When you leave MADICE or use a separately operated service, that service's privacy policy applies. A link does not mean that MADICE controls the third party's privacy practices.
9. Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the requested experience, preserve permanent stars, maintain accounts, process transactions, secure the platform, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods depend on the type of information and the purpose for which it is used.
Information that is no longer needed is deleted, de-identified, or isolated from active use, subject to backup cycles and records we are legally permitted or required to retain.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No system or method of transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and notifying us if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
11. Children's privacy
MADICE services are not directed to children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without legally sufficient authorization. If you believe a child has provided personal information to MADICE, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
12. Your privacy rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information MADICE holds about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to appeal a response.
Submit a request to [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity and relationship to the information. We may retain or decline to delete information where permitted or required for security, fraud prevention, transaction records, legal compliance, or the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
13. International processing
MADICE and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Where applicable law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the MADICE platform evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required by law.
15. Contact
For platform privacy questions or requests, contact MADICE Inc. at [email protected].
